Be the ONE!

It only takes ONE spark to start a fire and they say it only takes SIX seconds to brighten someone's day. This could be holding the door for someone, saying hello, letting someone ahead of you in line etc. If we all just made it a priority to practice the SIX second act of kindness think of the positive impact this would have on the world. It is an awesome feeling to help others but what is more amazing is the effect it has on others. Someone that has been the product of a random act of kindness will generally turn around and in some way or form, reciprocate the act of kindness shown to them. It is the best chain reaction ever.

Here is a video I found on YouTube that is the perfect example of this amazing cause and effect.

Start the domino effect! It only takes ONE and that ONE could be YOU!
Kindness is contagious, help to spread it all around!

Date Night!

My husband and I don't have many "date nights" at this stage of our busy lives, but occasionally when we do we make the most of it. One thing I have learned to appreciate is the importance of making time for US! Well.....this past Saturday hubby and I ventured out for a night on the town kid-less, as we joke!

Marriage is the foundation of a family. Just like the foundation that keeps your house strong, a healthy marriage keeps the family strong. I am certainly no expert in relationships but I do know marriage takes work and relationships that get lazy often suffer.

My husband and I cherish every minute we have with our children. We work full time and have busy lives and look forward to the weekends. I miss my kids when I am apart from them, and I often feel guilty when I do have to go out. One thing I have learned is to never forget the importance of US (husband and wife) time too. Our love is the reason for all the wonderful things we have been blessed with.
Moral of the story, never lose yourselves or your spark in the ciaos of children, work etc. Always make time for yourselves, listen to one another and focus on your foundation.  Plan that DATE!

Random Loves #1

Here are a few things I am currently loving:

Animal Documentaries – Nothing takes me on an emotional roller-coaster quite like these kinds of shows. The lifestyles of animals and things that they do for survival etc. I find so fascinating.  Last week I watched a PBS special on penguins and found myself laughing one minute and weeping the next.

Here is a link to a clip of the PBS Penguin documentary.

Another amazing documentary was one I watch about the Chinese Snow Monkeys a few months back. It's hilarious seeing them relax in the hot springs and so heart-warming to watch them with their babies.

Here is a link to a clip of the PBS Chinese Snow Monkey’s:

I also thoroughly enjoy watching funny animal videos with human voice overs. I know this sounds weird but I honestly get the biggest kick out these.

Here is a link to one of these videos I am referring too: (I love the dentist clip)
Ankle Length Pants- one thing you may or may-not know about me is that I am short. Yup!  These ankle length pants actually work out to be the perfect “normal” length pant for me without having to get them hemmed.  Hallelujah! Let’s just hope this trend sticks around for a while.

Flavored Popcorn- My latest obsession is flavored popcorn. I kid you not, I have been going through approximately two bags of this stuff on a weekly basis.  Sure... maybe it's a healthier alternative to chips (my #1 guilty pleasure) but not when you eat the whole bag. My favorite would have to be Orville Redenbacher’s dill pickle popcorn. White cheddar would be my second choice. I was always a fan of the original “Smartfood” (white cheddar) but found the Orville to be a better quality popcorn. You have to try this!
What are you currently loving?

Summer Come Backs

Now that summer is finally here I find I am reaching for a handful of products. Some of these I have not touched since last summer. Here they are.
Maybelline Color tattoo - 24 hour eyeshadow - Barely Branded.  I have really grown extremely attached to this little wonder. It is the perfect base for just about any look you want to achieve and you do not need a primer with this. This lasts all day and does not crease. It's a two in one product that gives you great color payoff with a subtle shimmery champagne color. Perfect for the summer!

Stila - Goddess - Eye Shadow Trio-This trio always resurfaces for me in the summer time. It is three perfect shimmery bronzed colors.  I either use the color tattoo -barely branded or the lightest shade to sweep over the entire eyelid. I then use the medium color (right side) for the crease followed by a little bit of the darkest color in the corners blended outward and slightly upward into the crease. These colors have such a great payoff and they're super easy to use.  I think this trio would look great on just about anyone.

Bite - Lip-gloss- Strawberry.  When I create a bronzed eye effect I like to do a more natural lip color. Lately I have been achieving this by using a light shear pink lip-gloss.  For those of you that have not tried this brand I strongly suggest that you do. Not only are the colors gorgeous and lasting but they are natural and do not contain harmful ingredients. Bite Beauty operates in downtown Toronto and contains ingredients healthy enough to eat! I am looking forward to trying more bite products in the future.

Benefit-They're Real - Mascara - I only have a deluxe sample of this but find myself reaching for this a lot lately. The wand design provides me with the most control and I'm able to reach all the little hairs. It's great to use on the lower lashes as well. This product gives me just enough oomph without it looking fake. A great product!

Do you have any summer come backs?

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Everyone!

My two little girls have brought me more joy in my life than I couldn't have ever even imagined.  Yes, there   are tough times to being a Mother, but the joys definitely out weight the challenges. My girls are my breath, my heart beat, and my inner song. They are my everything!

My heart goes out to those that may have lost there Mother, and also to those that are struggling to become one.  This might be a day that acts as a reminder of what is missing or lost. This may be a day of sorrow.  For those of you in these situations, my thoughts are with you all. xo

Mother's Day for me, is about appreciation.

It was not until I got into my twenties that I was able to truly reflect upon what my Mother had, and still continues to do for me. I am so proud of the strength, courage and determination she has shown over the years. Her loving, gentle, kind spirit always lights up even the darkest days.  Her strong work ethic, commitment and passion for life continues to amaze me every day.  Her beauty radiates from the inside out.

She is my hero!

My wish is that I can learn to apply the wisdom she has taught me over the years, and to pass these onto my girls. I  hope I can continue to inspire my own children the way she has inspired me.

To the best Mother, ever. Thank you! I love you!

Me and my Mom.
